Jenifer Gaitan is currently a first-year Higher Education Ph.D. student at Rutgers and a Ph.D. Associate at the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions and the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice. She is a researcher dedicated to advancing equity for first-generation and low-income students. She leverages her lived experience as an Ecuadorian-American, first-generation HSI graduate to drive her work. She holds an M.A. in Sociology and Education from Teachers College, Columbia University and B.A. in History from UConn-Stamford.
