Mia Hardy
Mia Hardy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Georgia, a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University, and a PhD in sociology from Georgia State University. Hardy has worked in the field of higher education for twenty-five years. She currently serves as Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs at Dominican University. Her career spans across academic and student affairs as she has served in staff, administrative, and faculty roles. She earned tenure as a sociology faculty member, and her research interests include educational equity, social inequality, and women's leadership. She is a passionate educator who has dedicated her career to providing educational opportunities to all students. Hardy has been a staunch advocate of federal TRiO programs and has further worked to expand access for first-generation and economically disadvantaged student populations. Among Hardy's proudest accomplishments is establishing two undergraduate research centers, both of which were designed to increase access to this high-impact practice for marginalized populations. Hardy is a member of the Midwest Sociological Association, the Association of Black Sociologists, and the American Sociological Association. She is also dedicated to serving her community as a member of the Women’s Board of the Field Museum of Chicago and the Hamilton Wings board in Elgin, IL. Hardy is the immediate past president of the Chicago (IL) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and the immediate past president of the Chicago Chapter Charities Foundation. Hardy is a mother of four, a wife, and an enthusiast for living life fully and with purpose. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, reading, and exploring new music.
