Suzette M. Brimmer joined Houston City College in 1997 as an Adjunct Professor of Fashion and became a Full-Time Professor in August 1999. Since that time, she has held numerous academic leadership positions, including Lead Fashion Professor, Fashion Programs Coordinator, Associate Chair, Division Chair, and Co-Program Director of the Arts & Design Council. During the College Transformation initiative, Ms. Brimmer served as Chair of Consumer Arts & Sciences, where she played a key leadership role in guiding faculty through a significant period of institutional change by facilitating monthly program meetings and communicating district-wide updates. Working directly with the Dean of Consumer Arts & Sciences, she assisted in the strategic planning and implementation of Career and Technical Education goals aligned with the Chancellor’s strategic vision. As Dean of Consumer Art & Sciences, her leadership responsibilities included oversight of division programming and operations, business and program management, budget administration, resource allocation, faculty and student affairs, facilities planning, community outreach, and student recruitment and retention initiatives. Through her collaborative leadership and commitment to student success, Ms. Brimmer has contributed significantly to the growth and advancement of academic programs within Consumer Arts & Sciences. Instrumental in the Accreditation of Hospitality Administration (The Accreditation Commission of Programs in Hospitality), Fashion Design & Merchandising & Interior Design (National Association of Schools of Art & Design), Culinary & Pastry Arts Program (American Federation of Culinary). Brimmer currently serves as Vice President of Instructional & Student Services, providing executive leadership for academic programs, workforce education, student services, and enrollment operations. She leads strategic initiatives focused on student success, academic excellence, and community partnerships while supporting the college’s mission and institutional goals.
