She has also served on the SACS-COC self-study and as an NEH Grant Evaluator Panelist. Beyond the academy, she serves as Chair of the Board of Delaware Humanities and a Consultant/Leader in College Board for African American Studies and English Literature. Davidson earned her Ph.D. from the University of Maryland, College Park, and is the author of The Black Nation Novel: Imagining Homeplaces in Early African-American Literature and several book chapters and journal articles. Her scholarship centers on African American literary traditions, feminist theory, and the intersections of race, gender, and identity.  A dedicated mentor, educator, and advocate for the humanities, Davidson's career reflects a sustained commitment to student success, institutional excellence, and the enduring power of literature to illuminate our shared humanity.
