Monica Hernandez is a doctoral student and fellow in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies – Higher Education at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UT San Antonio). Her research examines how Hispanic Serving Institutions (HSIs) develop workforce pathways, such as internships, for Latine students in STEM fields. In her work, she aims to highlight how institutional structures, workforce pipelines, and personal trajectories intersect, and how Latine students’ participation in internships can serve as a critical lever for promoting equity, representation, and economic mobility. In her spare time, Monica enjoys baking, running, and visiting new coffee shops.
