Andre S. Richardson

Andre S. Richardson has been an educator for 30 years, serving in higher education and PK-12 education. He worked in education policy as a Program Officer with the University of North Carolina System Office and the U.S. Department of Education. Richardson currently serves as Vice President for Student Affairs at Allen University in Columbia, SC. He served in leadership roles in Student Affairs at several colleges and universities. He is known for "Establishing a Culture of Care on College Campuses" throughout his career. He is a sought-after speaker on creating a culture of care and a sense of belonging at national conferences, colleges, and universities.
Richardson holds a Ph.D. in Leadership Studies (Higher Education) from North Carolina A&T State University, a Master of Arts in Teaching (Secondary English) from Notre Dame of Maryland University, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Shaw University. His research interests include student development, student retention, higher education leadership, and Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs).
Richardson is also a highly decorated and proud Veteran. He served on active duty in the United States Navy from June 1988 to June 1992. He was deployed for Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm, from August 1990 to April 1991, aboard the USS Gunston Hall LSD-44.
