Clifton (Clif) Conrad
Clifton (Clif) Conrad is Vilas Distinguished Achievement Professor and Professor of Higher Education at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Fueled by his commitment to advancing equal educational opportunity and student learning at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, Conrad’s research is centered around four intersecting domains of inquiry: liberal and general education; teaching and learning; program quality at the institutional, departmental, and course levels; and student success at Minority-Serving Institutions (Historically Black Colleges and Universities, Tribal Colleges, and Hispanic-Serving Institutions). His research and publications include 15 books, 7 monographs, and more than 100 articles, book chapters, and miscellaneous other publications. Prior to joining the UW-Madison faculty, Prof. Conrad earlier served on the faculty at the University of Denver, The College of William and Mary, and the University of Arizona—where he also served as a department chair and as an associate dean for academic affairs. He pursued his undergraduate studies in History and his graduate studies in Political Science, Sociology, and Higher Education. He received his Ph.D. in Higher Education from the University of Michigan.
