2026 MSI Aspiring Leader

L. Hazel Jack brings more than 20 years of experience in higher education leadership, with expertise spanning strategy, communications, and community engagement.

For the past nine years, she has been a key leader at Colgate University and currently serves as Vice President and Chief of Staff to the President. As a member of the President’s Cabinet, she oversees presidential communications, government relations, university-wide events, and the management of the president’s office. During her time at Colgate, she has also served as Vice President for University Communications and Acting Chief Diversity Officer.

A first-generation college student, Jack earned her bachelor’s degree from Pace University as well as a Master of Business Administration and a Master of Science in Education from Baruch College. Most recently, she completed her Ph.D. at Syracuse University, where her dissertation explored how Black women college presidents are portrayed in the media.
