Ashlee Monton
Ashlee Monton is a junior at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) pursuing a B.A. in Political Science with an Asian American Studies minor. She has been in the Dean’s List consistently since she transferred to CSUN from Pierce College in the fall of 2017. Ashlee has won the prestigious Alcantara and Abarquez Scholarship Award for her essay titled, "From Cultural Absence to Cultural Presence: Why Asian American Studies Matters to Me," which was also published in the Asian Journal. Born and raised in the Philippines, she is currently designing a research project focusing on the experiences of Filipina domestic workers in the United States and the ways in which the formation of their identity in the U.S. is connected to historical patterns of colonialism.
