Kevin L. Peterman

Kevin Lamar Peterman serves as a Research Assistant for the Penn Center for Minority Serving Institutions. He is also a student in the Department of Higher Education at the University of Pennsylvania. 

Kevin is a native of Newark, NJ and a graduate of Howard University, where he earned a B.A. in Political Science. He also obtained an M.A. in Theology with an additional certificate in Black Church Studies from Princeton Theological Seminary. In conjunction with his regular course work, Kevin has studied extensively throughout China, Japan, Ghana and South Africa in effort to learn more about the region’s political, economic, and cultural affairs.

Kevin began his civic career with the NAACP’s Washington Bureau as a Legislative Assistant for Education Policy. He has also worked for worked for the US Department of Education, and the DC Public School System. He recently ended a series with National Public Radio (NPR) where he was featured as a contributor on NPR’s Sunday morning show, The Weekend Edition.

 Kevin Lamar Peterman is a licensed Baptist minister and has served at the Trinity United Church of Christ in Chicago, Illinois and the Cornerstone Baptist Church of Brooklyn, New York. He has been regarded as one of the nation’s most preeminent millennial civic leaders and clergymen.
