Dan B. Johnson, Jr.

Dan B. Johnson, Jr. is a multimedia producer, scholar, educator, and mental health therapist with over a decade of experience across media, higher education, and clinical practice. His work is grounded in a distinctive interdisciplinary approach that integrates storytelling, psychology, and pedagogy to foster both personal growth and academic excellence.

Johnson has produced, directed, and edited content for major platforms and organizations, including ESPN, Food Network, Disney+, Savannah College of Art & Design, and Byrd’s Famous Cookies. In academia, he has designed and taught a wide range of courses spanning Mass Communications, Media and Film Studies, Human and Organizational Behavior, English Composition, Literature, and online learning strategies, preparing students to think critically and lead effectively in evolving professional landscapes.

As a clinician, Johnson specializes in evidence-based and theoretically grounded interventions, with a particular emphasis on psychoeducation and Cinema Therapy, an innovative approach that uses film and media as tools for reflection and healing. His clinical focus includes anger management, grief counseling, life coaching, and supporting individuals navigating acculturation and major life transitions.

His research explores the communicative experiences of marginalized populations in higher education, Evangelical film and media arts, and the role of cinema and video games in post-traumatic growth. Through his work, Johnson remains committed to empowering individuals and communities through education, storytelling, and transformative care.
