Eve Graves

Eve Graves is a graduate of the Drama Department at Spelman College.  After earning her doctoral degree, Graves began her professional academic career at the College of William and Mary, where she received awards, published several articles, and was elected to head a national professional organization. Graves was awarded a teaching fellowship from the Carnegie Center for Teaching and Learning at Stanford University. At the end of her final residency at the Carnegie Foundation, Graves decided to pursue work as an intercultural pedagogue at the prestigious Xiamen University in China. She lived and successfully taught Western theatre history and Literature in China for 4.5 years.  

Graves’ commitment to global arts education is well regarded by international scholars.  She has been invited to present her research at international conferences in Australia, China, Thailand, Ghana, and Europe.  She has chaperoned student study abroad trips to China, Ghana, South Africa, Israel, and Palestine. She is a recipient of a summer NEH fellowship, and she was selected as a Fulbright Specialist for a term of four years.  She has won numerous awards, such as the URTA Outstanding Theatre Educator Award, and she was honored by the City of Louisville, KY, with a key to the city.  However, one of Graves’ greatest honors was serving as a foster parent in the state of Georgia with the NECCO organization.
