Adrián Ríos

Adrián Ríos is a Capricorn, and the Tijuana-San Diego border region is the place he calls home. Rios is a first-generation student, and their academic journey began at Southwestern College before transferring to the University of California, Berkeley, where he completed degrees in Anthropology and Latin American Literature. After working in Brazil as a language teacher, Ríos pursued graduate studies at Harvard University, specializing in Latinx Studies.He is currently a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Ethnic Studies at Imperial Valley College, a Hispanic-Serving Institution in the California borderlands. As a former community college student who commuted daily across the border, he has a relationship with Minority Serving Institutions that is both professional and deeply personal. Ríos is committed to the transformative power of education, especially within community colleges.
