Robert Vives

Robert Vives is a queer, Cuban-American student that resides in Miami and is currently enrolled at Florida International University (FIU) seeking a B.A. in English. His academic interests include film studies, Latinx literature, and queer studies. He aspires to become a professor of comparative literature. Robert believes being queer and Hispanic has provided him with insight into various social dynamics such as race, sexuality, and gender and how each identity intersects and constitutes an individualized embodied experience. This is an important topic to him and one that he hopes to further examine and incorporate into his studies and teachings. He also enjoys writing analytical essays and film reviews and spends most of his spare time at art-house cinemas, drag shows, or practicing playing the piano at home.
