Rewa Burnham

Rewa Burnham is Associate Professor of English at Trinity Washington University. Prior to joining the faculty, Burnham worked as an academic advisor and a reading and writing instructional specialist. Her scholarly interests include African American literature, critical reading and writing curriculum development, writing centers, and academic support systems for first-generation students. Her courses focus on nonfiction writing by Black women writers, the fugitive figure in contemporary African American literature, and multicultural American Literature. Most recently, she developed the Humanities for Justice program, which emphasizes the relationship between social justice work and literature across the general education curriculum. Burnham aspires to be an academic dean who champions the humanities as the foundation for knowledge production in the academy.
