Olivia Solomon

Olivia D. Solomon is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Prairie View A&M University, where she founded the Neuroimmune Mechanobiology Lab. Her research centers on understanding how neuroimmune interactions drive inflammatory disease, with particular interest in neuroinflammation, vascular dysfunction, and inflammatory pain. She also investigates how mechanosensitive ion channels contribute to inflammatory signaling within the neurovascular unit.Solomon’s scientific path grew from a deep interest in how the body senses and responds to infection and tissue injury to improve patient outcomes. Through her graduate and postdoctoral training, she developed expertise in molecular biology and advanced imaging approaches to study inflammatory signaling in complex disease models, including infectious disease. At PVAMU, she leads an interdisciplinary research program, teaches foundational biology and anatomy courses, and mentors undergraduate trainees pursuing careers in biomedical science. Solomon is committed to strengthening research capacity at Minority-Serving Institutions and advancing excellence and opportunity in science and higher education.
