Malena Her

Malena Her is a first generation, Hmong American, sophomore at California State University, Sacramento. Malena grew up with her seven brothers, two sisters, and her parents in Stockton, CA. She is majoring in liberal studies with the hopes that she will be able to teach at either one of her two elementary schools back in her hometown. During Malena’s free time, she enjoys watching television shows, knitting, and crafting. Malena is honored to be a Frederick Douglass Global Fellow to study abroad in Cape Town, South Africa this upcoming summer. She is thrilled to explore and enhance her global and cultural knowledge while getting to know the rest of the cohort.
