Lance Kyle Bennett

Lance Kyle Bennett is an Adjunct Professor of Communication at St. Edward’s University in Austin, Texas. He embraces a scholar-practitioner approach to the study of higher education. His research examines how vision communication (i.e., using written and oral interaction to present shared values to which a university should aspire) impacts college students at liberal arts colleges. Throughout Lance’s career, he has served in several administrative and leadership capacities at multiple institutions, including being Special Assistant to the Chairman; Transfer Program Coordinator; and Instructional Quality Control Coordinator. One of his favorite aspects of higher education is building bridges between executive leadership and various campus constituencies. Lance exercised this skill while serving on the executive vice president and provost search committee at the University of Iowa. The role involved representing approximately 9,000 graduate and professional students while developing communication channels with senior leaders and the graduate student population. Throughout his time in the academy, Lance has received research grants; published peer-reviewed journal articles and book chapters; and obtained teaching certificates. Lance is a graduate of Delaware County Community College (A.A.), Eastern University (B.A.), West Chester University (M.A.), University of Iowa (M.A.) with studies in interpersonal and organizational communication. Using his background in communication, Lance is currently pursuing an Ed.D. in Higher Education Leadership at St. Edward’s University.
