Jazz Piatt

Jazmine “Jazz” Piatt is a senior at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) majoring in History. Her research interests include U.S. history since 1865, Latina/o history, women and gender, women in U.S. history, Latin America, transnationalism, public policy, and education. Jazz’s current research examines untold experiences and efforts of Chicana/o students, parents and teachers subjected to forced bussing and school reassignment in the Los Angeles Unified School District (1970s-80s). By coupling archival material with self-conducted oral histories, she hopes to add to the limited literature surrounding the issue. Jazz serves as an undergraduate research assistant, is a member of Phi Alpha Theta History Honor Society, and recipient of the Christine and Albert Zoraster Fellowship. In her free time, she enjoys long car rides with her beagle, and monitoring California Condors through the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
