David Castillo
David Castillo is currently a senior enrolled at The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), pursuing a B.A. in History with a minor in International & Comparative Politics. Through a powerful impact made upon him by a high school teacher, David’s lifelong love for history evolved into a passion he strives to utilize to cultivate informed and empowered students in the future. Throughout his time at UTEP, David has pursued varying avenues of study, both historical and political, which have inspired him to research areas of history and governmental behavior often forgotten or purposefully overlooked. His current research seeks to highlight the power carried by personal perceptions and perspectives in historical conflicts, seeking to foster an understanding that history is seldom secluded to one sole perspective. He has worked as a Peer Leader in UTEP’s Entering Student Program for incoming freshman, a program that helps students develop in-class experience and better understand the immense value of education. He has remained an involved member of the UTEP campus through membership as a Miner Ambassador in which students develop professional skills by acting as the university’s official hosts, as well as serving as the vice president of the Student Alumni Association.
