Brandon Nichols
Brandon Nichols serves as the Senior Vice President of Academic Affairs at Olive-Harvey College, one of the City Colleges of Chicago. Brandon is a collaborative and transformative leader that underscores the belief in sharing power, putting the needs of others first, and helping stakeholders to develop and perform as highly as possible He describes himself as being a mission-driven, person-centered educator.
He currently oversees the following functional areas at the College: Adult Education (General Educational Development [GED] program), Career Programs & Continuing Education, Child Development Laboratory School (Child Care Center), Instruction (Arts & Sciences), Middle College (alternative high school program), STEM Center for Teaching & Learning, and Urban Agriculture.
Brandon began his career as an Expressive Therapist at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park, Maryland. While concurrently pursuing a career pathway in psychology, he worked in education as Residence Life Coordinator at The Art Institute of Washington in Arlington, Virginia later on working as a Psychology Instructor and then as Director of Academic Support & First Year Experience. Brandon later relocated to his hometown of Chicago, Illinois to work for the City Colleges of Chicago at Kennedy-King College, District Office, and currently Olive-Harvey College. During his time at The City Colleges of Chicago, he held positions as Director of Academic Support Services, Associate Dean of Instruction, District Director of Faculty Development, Accreditation, & Assessment, and Vice President of Academic Affairs.
He is a native of the southeast side of Chicago, Illinois, and has 20+ years of experience. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign along with a Master of Arts in Clinical Psychology and a Doctorate of Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University - Washington, DC. Brandon is married and a proud father of three children.
