Ayana T. Hardaway

Ayana T. Hardaway is a Visiting Scholar for the Samuel DeWitt Proctor Institute for Leadership, Equity, and Justice in the Rutgers Graduate School of Education and the Rutgers Center for Minority Serving Institutions. Ayana has twelve years of experience as an administrator, researcher, and educator in higher education. As a critical qualitative researcher and practitioner, Ayana’s research interests include: examining the intersections of race and gender within marginalized groups, with a focus on Black women and girls, in P-20 educational and social contexts; campus diversity initiatives and policies; and critical qualitative methods. Ayana completed her Ph.D. through the Urban Education program with a concentration in Higher Education in the Department of Policy, Organizational, & Leadership Studies at Temple University. She holds an M.Ed. in Urban Education from Temple University, and a B.A. in Communication Studies and Journalism from West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
