Anna Brogan

Anna Brogan was born and raised in Princeton, West Virginia, and she is a nursing student at Bluefield State College, which is in a neighboring town. She comes from extremely humble beginnings: she was raised by a single mom and my grandmother who both did everything in their power to give her a “normal” childhood. She now completely supports herself and works two jobs to do so! She works for a family-owned coal mining company and gun shop, and she cleans houses as a second source of income. She loves to work and feels very blessed to have amazing bosses/clients.
People are her greatest passion, which she considers a primary reason why she is pursuing a degree in nursing. She loves to volunteer at her church, Lifeline Church, as well as teach bible studies and simply connect with people from all different walks of life. She has never met a stranger and can truly say that God has instilled in her a desire to show all people as much kindness and love as she possibly can. She loves the outdoors and considers herself to be a huge tomboy, although her mere 5’3” stature would probably not seem like it. She bow and rifle hunts, loves to hike, rides four wheelers, and literally does anything that involves her getting to be outside. Global hunting is a huge deal in her family, and ironically they are also huge conservationists. They eat or donate what they kill and hunt legally, often with guides. Along with the outdoors comes Anna’s love of travelling. She gets my wings up and wheels off the runway as often as possible and loves exploring all that this world has to offer. Lastly, she is a fitness enthusiast. She is not into aesthetics as much as she is connecting her mind and body in what works best for keeping her healthy and active. She danced for fourteen years and spent six of those years in a local dance company where she competed and soaked up every ounce of glitter the spotlight could offer. After high school was over and her dancing days had ended, Anna began to work out separately and quickly fell in love with CrossFit, which is what she uses to work out all her nursing school anxiety now!
Anna has always enjoyed taking care of people and now gets to do that not only in her future career but at home as well. She lives with her seventy-seven-year-old grandma and is her primary care giver, although her grandma is very fiery and probably keeps her on my toes more than vice versa! Anna’s grandma is her biggest inspiration for her career choice. Anna plans to get her BSN to take care of her grandma and her future family to the best of her ability. She will continue her education through WVU online after graduating from Bluefield State to obtain her MSN and DNP, which will make her a practicing nurse practitioner! Anna’s goals are very ambitious and seem to be laid out perfectly but she has a deep-rooted faith in God, and she prays that her future remains in His will and on His timing.
Anna feels so honored to have been chosen as an FDGF Scholar and knows that this is going to be such a blessing in all the Fellows’ lives. She cannot wait to meet everyone and experience London while learning new things and making memories that will last a lifetime!
