Alvin Schexnider

Alvin Schexnider served as interim president of Norfolk State University before retiring in 2007. In 2008, he returned as president of Thomas Nelson Community College before retiring again in 2011. A former chancellor of Winston-Salem State University, he has held faculty and administrative positions at Southern University, Syracuse University, The Federal Executive Institute, the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Wake Forest University.

Alvin earned a B.A. in Political Science at Grambling State University. He received the M.A. and Ph.D. in Political Science from Northwestern University. He is currently the president of Schexnider & Associates LLC and also the author of Saving Black Colleges.
