Lidia Carrillo

Lidia Valeria Carrillo is an undergraduate student at The University of Texas, El Paso (UTEP) pursuing a B.A. in History and French.  Inspired by her travel to Mexico City, she developed an interest in the ancient civilizations of the world with a focus on Latin American cultures. As an area of concentration, she wishes to analyze how the ideals of ancient Greek and Roman cultures shaped the way colonizers engaged the Latin American cultures they encountered in the New World. She is motivated to become a professor to help students achieve their dreams and give them the support they need. She made the Dean’s List in spring 2017 and has a passion for telling stories that will help students understand and develop a zeal for history as she has - with thanks to her mentors. She moved from Juarez, TX to El Paso, TX along with her mother and cousin.
