Isaac Polanco

Isaac Polanco is an undergraduate student at Florida International University (FIU) where he’s pursuing a B.A. in English with a concentration in Linguistics and a Certificate in Professional and Public Writing. Isaac’s areas of interest are film studies, sociolinguistics, mythology, continental philosophy, race theory, post-colonial theory and representations of the Black identity in the Hispanic diaspora. Straddling the colorism binary of Hispanic identity and Blackness, Isaac has a personal understanding of the physical and psychological effects of race and ethnic identity. 

Isaac is a member of such honor societies as Sigma Tau Delta, Veteran’s National Honor Society (S.A.L.U.T.E), and Phi Theta Kappa. He also served in the United States Army, as a Logistics Specialist beginning in September 2012. In September 2016, he was honorably discharged. At the twilight of 2017, Isaac established his first LLC, Lax Wimbledon Realty, a small business positioned to serve military and low-income families.
